The Alzheimer Society works nationwide to improve the quality of life for Canadians affected by Alzheimer’s disease, and to advance the search for treatment, prevention and a cure. In Quebec, civilian safety is a shared responsibility between citizens, enterprises, municipalities and the government of Quebec. The Direction des mesures d’urgence of the Sûreté du Québec is responsible for all search and rescue operations in its service area. It also has the mandate to search for missing persons and persons in distress, in the forest or in an urban centre, and to assist its government partners and the police in finding missing or distressed persons. Its members collaborate with the Direction générale de sécurité civile and l’Association québécoise des bénévoles en recherche et sauvetage, who provide resources in support of search and rescue operations.
